She sneered when I didn’t know who Selena Gomez was. “Who sings this?” I asked my friend. “This bubble gum poppy bullshit is cute. But only once. Now that it’s sunk its teeth into my memory, I’m going to have to gouge my ears out with a nail file.” I must be too old. Enter “Pumped Up Kicks.” Much better. At least I know that one. And of course, I left with pretty, sparkly red toes.
